This heritage home received a major addition, complete restructuring and updated interiors with a focus on the kitchen. Now the homeowners have additional functionality for hosting loved ones in luxury finishes and purposeful spaces which delight & surprise.

The previously small kitchen and dining spaces have been expanded to support extended family gatherings. The kitchen is now connected to the outdoor covered patio through three big windows which allow drinks and appetizer service to the patio seating. A new roofline was introduced to expand the layout on the top floor yet included preservation of the existing character roof and cedar shingles. We found a use for every inch of this expanded home, including under stairs, around corners and in tight spaces.

Energy efficiency wasn’t forgotten as a heat pump with a mini-split was installed, augmenting the existing heating system. When combined with superior air tightness and high-performing windows, this home will cost far less in utilities every year.
