Often overlapping with the permitting process and/or part of a construction start, interior design is where we develop the interior expression, finish and material selection, and product specifications.
We undertake all design considerations that are beyond city requirements. This phase of work allows you the opportunity to express the design intent through all finishing details and control the construction budget further.
We begin by understanding your desired experiences, preferences, lifestyle, and functional needs. Our interior designer revisits the overall style and vision for their home as it will translate throughout the interior. The design concept that reflects the style and vision for the home. We consider functionality, flow, and ergonomics in the placement of furniture, fixtures, and other interior elements, helping all spaces to be practical, efficient, and tailored to your needs.
The interior designer looks to foster your desired experiences inside and around the home. This includes determining the best placement of furniture, fixtures, and other interior elements to create spaces that are meaningful, functional and aesthetically pleasing.
The interior designer assists the client in selecting materials, finishes, and fixtures for various interior elements. They provide guidance and recommendations based on their expertise in interior design, taking into consideration factors such as aesthetics, functionality, durability, and budget.
We provide specific design details for how materials shall connect and relate to one another, any custom millwork, finish carpentry or design feature.
We manage the established budget for interior design elements including all materials, finishes, fixtures, and furnishings. The interior designer coordinates with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain accurate pricing and estimates, and monitors expenses during construction to ensure that the interior design stays on budget. We provide guidance and recommendations to ensure that the selections are within the budget.

Novell can effectively provide answers to requests for information (RFIs) and provide written site instructions, as required by the trades and crews onsite. When needed, we coordinate with subconsultants and direct work from a design perspective onsite where discrepancies, questions, or challenges arise.
As changes, site conditions or unforeseen issues arise during construction, Novell can provide immediate design solutions for your consideration.
Our designers review the shop drawings of fabricators for compliance to the design intent and site conditions. This may include structural steel, trusses, TJIs, cabinetry, countertops, stains and other specialty work. We also review and endorse samples of custom products to you, as required.
Our designers visit site at key milestones to review for compliance, including foundation forms, framing, roughins, and finishing. Our designers experience first-hand how the space is evolving, commenting on potential challenges or site limitations, answering questions, working for compliance to the drawings and advocating for your design priorities.
These services help the design to remain cohesive and aligned with the overall design vision throughout the construction process.
